Hancock Track & Field Competes Strongly at Battle of the Regions
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Competing against top regional programs, the Allan Hancock College track & field team delivered a strong all-around performance at the Battle of the Regions hosted by Bakersfield College, highlighted by multiple event victories and podium finishes.
On the men's side, Esequiel Gauna captured 1st overall in the javelin with a throw of 42.60 meters, while Mychael Walker earned 1st overall in the triple jump at 14.25 meters. Jacob Garbiso added a 3rd-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 13.43 meters.
For the women, Eva Luu placed 2nd overall in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:07.11, and Maria Navarro finished 2nd overall in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.76 seconds.
Hancock returns to action at the Pirate Invitational hosted by Ventura College on February 20.
