GLENDALE-- Solid defense was again the key as the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team posted an important Western State Conference victory at Glendale, 1-0.
Hancock (5-4-5, 2-1-0 WSC) recorded its fifth shutout of the season behind the play of goalkeepers Jose Perez and Omar Pimentel. Perez, a freshman from Santa Ynez who has been outstanding as the Bulldog starter, was forced out of the contest with a leg injury at the 30-minute mark. Pimentel, a freshman from Lompoc High, stepped in and kept the host Vaqueros at bey for the remaining 60 minutes.
Freshman midfielder Edgar Miranda (Santa Maria) provided the game's only goal on a fabulous shot in the 83rd minute. The Bulldogs will host College of the Canyons on the campus field at 2 p.m. Friday.
