Bulldogs Set to Host Round One of SoCal Regional Tournament
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team has qualified to host round one of the Southern California Regional Tournament at John Osborne Field on May 1-3. This marks just the second time since 2014 that the program, who also hosted in 2023, has earned the home field advantage for the playoffs. | FULL BRACKET / TOURNAMENT HUB
The Bulldogs secured an automatic hosting slot after claiming their first Western State Conference (North) title against a full field of competitors since 1995. They enter the postseason as the No. 5 seed in the south, boasting an overall record of 31-9 while riding a 10-game winning streak.
Joining Hancock in the #5 bracket are No. 12 Grossmont and No. 20 Cuesta. Grossmont finished second in the Pacific Coast Conference with an overall record of 25-15 (17-8 PCC). Cuesta, a fellow WSC North competitor, was fourth in the conference standings (12-12) and has an overall record of 20-20.
The first round of regionals is a double-elimination format between the three teams. Grossmont and Cuesta will open the tournament in Game 1 on Friday at 11 AM. The Bulldogs will face the winner of that game on Friday afternoon at 3 PM. From there, the bracket shifts based on results; the path through is straightforward for a team that wins, and unforgiving for one that doesn't. The regional champion advances to the Super Regional the following weekend, hosted by the higher seed.
